Welcome to one of my bullet blogs. Short and to-the-point blogs that save your time and mine!

Some basic stuff about what can make your podcast better.

Consistency: Being consistent and uploading content at regular intervals (atleast once a week) helps increase listens and followers. Decide on one particular day of the week to upload and follow the schedule. People keep looking for content. When they find a good podcast that keeps feeding them with new stuff every week, they are surely going to hit that follow button.

Intro and Outro: A crisp short intro and outro for the podcast helps build recall for the podcast. If not, you can atleast build up a nice music underlay that acts like a theme music. Some good examples here: Bollywood is for Lovers, The GaryVee Audio Experience, Play to Potential Podcast.

Metadata: Providing information of each show and episode — tags, description and important links or information can really help listeners find the podcast and understand the content of the episode before they start listening. Do remember to keep episode titles short and easy to read. Stay away from episode numbers and dates in the title.

Duration: This is simple — Keep the podcast episode as long as it needs to be. Not shorter and not longer.

Content: Do mention in the beginning of the episode of what’s to come later. This creates a hook for listeners to stay tuned in. A transition sound effect while switching topics or news items also helps. Check out this podcast that’s the perfect example: Something You Should Know.

Quality: Good equipment and content planning can really make the podcast sound good. I personally use AKG D5 for recordings. Shure SM58 should also work. XLR to USB plugged directly into mic. Audacity for editing. BOOM! Podcast episode is ready!

Distribution: Sharing the podcast to multiple points helps people discover your content and thereby increases listens and followers. Be on Apple Podcasts. Thank me later.

Connect: Do ask listeners to follow the podcast on Apple Podcasts. Also ask them to rate and review your podcast.

Artwork: Good artwork and clear communication via design is key to getting clicks. Check out Canva.com. Really helpful.
