  1. Radio broadcast started in 1923 via 2 private stations — Radio Club of Bombay & later Calcutta Radio Club. In 1924, broadcasting service was initiated by the Madras Presidency Radio Club.

2. In 1930, Indian Broadcast Company (IBC) that ran the stations in Bombay (now Mumbai) & Calcutta (now Kolkata) went bankrupt and was liquidated. Later, Indian State Broadcasting Service (ISBS) under Department of Industries and Labour commenced on experimental basis.

3. Lionel Fielden was the first controller of Broadcasting in India. He was the senior BBC producer who spent five years in India as controller of broadcasting, creating — All India Radio (AIR)

4. First news bulletin was broadcasted on January 19,1936

5. On June 8, 1936, Indian State Broadcasting Service became All India Radio

6. First National Programme of Music broadcast from AIR took place on July 20,1952

7. Vividh Bharati Services started on October 3,1957.

9. First ever FM service was inaugurated from Madras (now Chennai) on July 23, 1977.

10. Time Slots on FM Channel to private parties at Delhi & Mumbai started in 1993 and the revolution in FM radio stations in India started.
